About

ON LAND is a landscape architecture practice in Portland, Maine, founded in 2025 by Ananda Moor-Jankowski.

Ananda has always been drawn to landscape architecture’s broad reach—as a means to wonder and beauty, as a significant cultural practice, and as an agent for environmental and social transformation. In her first two decades of practice, she explored the breadth of the profession through many different types and scales of projects in disparate settings and climates. On every project, her abiding passion for plants animated her work. Ever more alarmed by the climate and biodiversity crises, in the spring of 2025 she established ON LAND. Through this small practice, she hopes to bring more life, resilience, and beauty to the world and be part of a growing design activism movement.
Before starting ON LAND, Ananda worked at Michael Boucher Landscape Architecture in Freeport, ME, Ann Kearsley Design in Portland, ME, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates in Cambridge, MA, and Rios Clementi Hale Studios in Los Angeles, CA. She received a Master in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Studies and Visual Arts from Brown University.
Ananda is a licensed Landscape Architect in Maine and California. She is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Boston Society of Landscape Architects, and the Ecological Landscape Alliance. She recently received a Certificate in Native Plant Studies from the Native Plant Trust.
